day 14 mapMore motorhomes arrived last night after we went to bed, they made a lot of noise which is unnecessary and inconsiderate. It is a cold morning, 7°C according to Gill's phone, we need the Hymer's heating on at that temperature outside. We are up and on our way by 10:30 after servicing the Hymer, although driving up to the service point was not as easy as it should have been. I drive first, in Marseille we pass a really convenient garage that sells LPG so we stop to fill up. One thing that having refillable gas tanks has taught us is that you fill up every time it's convenient, because you can't be sure where or when the next filling station will be. Here the price is reasonable (0.81 euro per litre), we also fill up with diesel at 1.37 euro a litre, taking on almost 60L. Finally there's a car wash that is large enough to accommodate the Hymer which is around 3 metres high, so we take the opportunity to clean the outside. Looking much better we move on towards Istres, our proposed overnight stop where we arrived mid-afternoon.

The aire is almost new, opened in June 2015, on the side of a large lake. It is surrounded by a high metal fence and entered via a system of rising bollards. You have to drive close to the bollards before they go down, inside there is a machine for payment. This is an excellent aire, very conveniently located close to the town centre. We had a late lunch then set out to explore the town. There is a speciality cheese shop that has a wide selection of cheeses and ham, we stocked up with jamon and French cheeses that were delicious. Walked by the lake, noting a large number of Mediterranean Gulls, then back to the Hymer for our evening meal. More motorhomes arrived during the evening until there were 6.
